Please note that the below information is only applicable for customers that hold UK passports; if you do not hold a UK passport, please consult the Foreign Travel Advice provided by the government of your issuing country.
For some destinations, you will be required to get a visa to enter the country you are travelling to.
You can find all details about whether you need to get a visa in the description of our offers in the "Details" section. You will also be able to find other important information such as health advice here too.
For all queries relating to visas and entry requirements, we recommend visiting the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) page for further information.
We recommend to consult the FCDO before booking and in good time before departure, as information can change at any time. Voyage Privé keeps up to date with FCDO updates, as well as that of our governing body ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents), and where we feel it pertinent, we will email you with updates on your booked destination.
Whilst the FCDO is more comprehensive on visa requirements for every country, we feel it best to highlight the below countries.
USA:
Travel to the USA for UK passport holders will require you to apply through the Visa Waiver Programme:
"Most passport holders can get an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) through the Visa Waiver Programme, which allows travel to the US for up to 90 days. The types of journey allowed under the VWP include tourism, certain types of business visit and transit to another country. You’ll generally qualify to enter the USA using the VWP if your British passport:
- describes your nationality as a ‘British Citizen’

Please note that you will require an ESTA or similar waiver for transitting through the USA on a flight, even if your end destination is not the USA.
Canada:
Travel to Canada for UK passport holders will require you to apply for an eTA or Electronic Travel Authorisation:
"Visitors travelling to Canada by air are now expected to get an electronic travel authorisation (eTA) to enter Canada. If you’re visiting Canada you’ll need an eTA to board your flight unless you’re otherwise exempted (for example, if you have a valid Canadian visa or a permanent resident card). If you have British-Canadian dual nationality you won’t be able to apply for an eTA and you’ll need to present a valid Canadian passport to board your flight to Canada. If you’re travelling by land or sea, you won’t need an eTA when you enter Canada. However, you must travel with acceptable travel documents and identification. For more information about the eTA system, and to apply online, visit the official Canadian government website."
Please note that you will require an eTA or similar waiver for transitting through Canada on a flight, even if your end destination is not Canada.
