During your journey, the number and type of meals served on board depend on several factors: the airline, your travel class, and the duration of the flight.
Here’s a general overview to help you know what to expect.
Depending on the flight duration
-
Short-haul flights: On shorter flights, airlines often provide light refreshments, such as a sandwich, snack or drinks. Some flights — especially low-cost carriers — do not include free meals, but food and drinks can usually be purchased on board.
-
Long-haul flights: For flights over 6 hours, passengers typically receive multiple meals, including a main meal (lunch or dinner) and a light breakfast or snack before landing.
Depending on your travel class
-
Economy Class: Meals are generally standardised, with limited choices (usually two main options). Snacks and drinks may be included or available for purchase, depending on the airline.
-
Business & First Class: Passengers benefit from a premium service, with more elaborate menus, a wider selection, and in some cases, à la carte dining.
| Good to know: If you have specific dietary requirements (vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, kosher, etc.), you can usually request a special meal. This must be done at the time of booking or no later than 24–48 hours before your flight.
