From 1 October 2025, a tourist tax will apply to travellers staying in registered tourist accommodations in Mauritius.
How much is the tourist tax?
The tax is £3 per night and per person (from 12 years old).
Who has to pay the tax?
All travellers staying in registered accommodations: hotels, guesthouses, estates, tourist residences.
Who is exempt from the tax?
Children under 12 years old
Mauritian residents
Holders of a Residence Permit or Premium Visa
When do I have to pay the tax?
The tax is collected directly by your accommodation at the time of your stay.
Should I include it in my travel budget?
Yes. Make sure to add £3 per night and per adult to your budget if you are travelling after 1 October 2025.
